Gratuitous ARP Request – A Gratuitous ARP Request has the destination MAC address as the broadcast ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff MAC address, the Destination and Source IP addresses as the IP of the machine issuing the packet.

 

[What type of packet is an ARP reply or Gratuitous ARP Response / Reply?]

Gratuitous ARP Response / Reply – A Gratuitous ARP Response/Reply has the target MAC as the sender MAC, the Destination and Source IP addresses as the IP of the machine issuing the packet.
